Forum Program

Conceptual Framework

The program of GMF I reflected both the most important developments in the practice of medicine and research as well as the socio-economic issues that are the direct result of such innovations.

Each session over the four days of the conference contained a theme which recognized authorities in the field presented and discussed. Company executives, leading physicians and scientists were all major speakers at GMF I. Further participants presented relevant data which then served as the basis for panel discussions and open question periods with participation by the attendees.

Below you will find a listing of some of the topics, or themes, from each day of GMF I; the conference was held at the spectacular Rondo conference facility in Pontresina, Switzerland. Each theme listed has a brief description and a link to further details from the original conference program.

Though many of the original speakers appeared by video-conference due to the events of 11 September (airports in Boston, New York and Washington remained closed through the following week), the dialogue remained constant throughout the event.

Schedule of the First Global Medical Forum

GMF I opened on Monday afternoon September 17th with the Opening Session, a three hour main plenary session designed to set the tone for the conference itself. This session was attended by all Forum participants. Each of the following days of the Forum focused on one main theme or subset from the Opening Session. Each of these days had two main plenary sessions for all participants, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each main plenary session was followed by a question and answer session between the audience and keynote speakers.
