Main Plenary Session Developing research capacity

Why do the United States and Switzerland produce 85% – by some estimates – of the world’s innovation in medicine? Is it a question of financial support, human capital, regulatory environment, cultural uniqueness or perhaps some combination of all of above? Is there a relationship between innovation, research and good healthcare? Can a true Center of Excellence, as discussed in the first plenary session of this summit, exist without a local research capacity? How will the current lack of research capacity in the region affect its healthcare economy and what can be done to reverse any developing problems? This plenary session will seek to tackle each of these many intriguing questions while aiming for a distinctly local model for the development of research capacity.

Note: Plenary Session, 120 Persons
